Bedford Gardens

London, 2012-2013

Luciano was approached to make a courtyard garden to link two traditional Mews houses. The garden needed to both unite the two buildings and create a place for outdoor entertaining.

Luciano’s response was to invest the energy of a garden into the singular presence of one tree. A sculptural 45-year-old specimen is the hero of the garden. Carefully installed, it gives the appearance that it has been part of the history of the houses forever, with its spectacular profusion of blossom in spring and blazing colour in autumn.

This project was also notable as the first to include bespoke furniture designed by Luciano in collaboration with Nathalie de Leval. Read more about the Smith Collection and Giubbilei&deLeval here.
