Ladbroke Hall

Luciano Giubbilei Studio — Ladbroke Hall

Ladbroke Hall

London, England

2019–2025

Set behind the red brick façade of Ladbroke Hall, this garden offers quiet moments of retreat and pause in the heart of North Kensington. Once home to the Sunbeam Talbot Motor Company, the Grade II listed building is now the London base of Carpenters Workshop Gallery, housing spaces for exhibitions, events and dining.

An evergreen cloud hedge and a row of flowering Amelanchier trees create a gentle threshold to the architecture. Responding to the scale and privacy of the site, the garden invites exploration along gently winding paths and secluded niches, set beneath a light canopy of bamboo and Acer palmatum.

The planting was developed to bring softness to the geometry of the space, combining vertical structure with varied textures and moments of seasonal display. Underplanting includes Hedera helix as ground cover, with accents of Hydrangea quercifolia, Aralia cordata and Anemone japonica. Together the layers form an immersive atmosphere that shifts subtly with the light and time of day.

Designed to be experienced rather than observed, the garden offers an unexpected and intimate moment of pause.
